ORP Sleep Architecture

Odds Ratio Product (ORP) Sleep Architecture

Cerebra’s innovative and patented Odds Ratio Product (ORP)
technology is a highly validated measure of sleep depth.

Sleep depth, as measured by ORP, provides a richer and more detailed picture of sleep and sleep architecture. Conventional scoring is not sensitive enough to reflect sleep, depriving clinicians of valuable insights into a patient’s true sleep depth.

Cerebra’s ORP technology measures sleep depth  and it is transforming the diagnosis and treatment of major sleep disorders in the following sleep categories:

  • Sleep Improvement and CPAP Adherence
  • Objective Insomnia Diagnoses
  • Personalizing Sleep Medicine

ORP is a continuous index of sleep depth derived from the relation of EEG powers in different frequency ranges to each other. It ranges from 0 (pattern only occurring during sleep) to 2.5 (pattern only occurring during wakefulness or in arousals).

The image shows the R&K staging for three different patients, each showing typical patterns, but when looking at ORP for these same three patients (divided into 10 deciles) they are clearly very different. ORP identifies that significant information critical to diagnosing different underlying disorders and their appropriate treatments is being missed.

Applying ORP Sleep Architecture to Clinical Practice

The nine ORP Sleep Architecture profiles below provide an easy-to-use visual point of reference to assist in diagnosing, managing, and understanding the underlying mechanisms of sleep disorders.

Understanding the Sleep Depth Scale

Doctor Charles Penner, MD, FRCPC, explains the Odds Ratio Product method for comparing Sleep EEG measurements and outlines how the Sleep Depth Scale fits into the evaluation of patients with sleep disorders.
